Peter Smith, Chairman

Peter Smith began his long association with the transport industry by purchasing his first truck, a Bedford tray, in the early 1960s. Peter’s love of the industry led him to form Cubico, which was later sold to Mayne Nickless.

Specialized Container Transport was established in 1974, using National Rail rolling stock. Given an ultimatum by that organisation on changes to freight facilities, in 1995, SCT became the first private rail operator in Australia on the main interstate corridor between Melbourne and Perth.

This event altered the landscape of the Australian rail industry and turned SCT into a world class business.

Peter still takes an active role with SCT’s operations today as Chairman.


Geoff Smith, Managing Director

Geoff joined the Adelaide branch of SCT when he was just 19 years old.

Gathering experience in other industry sectors, Geoff returned to the company to head up SCT’s property development arm. He also oversaw the development of our rail terminals in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, as well as the distribution centres for our major clients.

Since Geoff’s previous appointment of CEO in June 2003, SCT has experienced exceptional growth, designed and developed new age rolling stock, commenced operations in the Goulburn Valley, acquired a new locomotive fleet, and continued to expand its rail operations and corridors.


Charles Mobrici, Commercial Director

Charles joined SCT in June 1989 and is responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation.

During Charles’ employment at SCT he has held various senior management accounting roles including Financial Controller and General Manager Administration.

He has 30 years experience in the logistics industry in numerous accounting roles in multi national companies and has been a CPA member for 30 plus years.


Grant Glinski, Board Member

Grant brings his considerable finance, treasury and operational experience to the SCT board. Grant enjoyed a long-term senior executive career in leading Asia-Pacific companies including The Mars Group, where he developed a keen interest in best practice distribution and logistics planning.


Don Axup, General Counsel

Don joined SCT in 2005 as General Counsel.

Prior to 2005 Don spent over thirty years as a partner in a large Melbourne law firm practicing primarily in commercial and property law.


Glenn Smith, Chief Executive Officer

Glenn joined the family business 22 years ago.  Glenn has held various key operational and management roles before being promoted to Chief Executive Office in 2012.  Glenn joined the Board of Directors in 2014.


Scott Malcolm, Board Member

Scott Malcolm has over 25 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance in Australia and the USA. He is Executive Chairman of the Sydney based corporate advisory firm, Greenstone Partners which he founded in 2003. Prior to Greenstone Partners, Scott was a Director in Credit Suisse’s investment banking department in Sydney.

Scott is also a Non-Executive Director of the ASX listed Future Generation Investment Company and Chairman of the CatWalk Spinal Cord Injury Research Trust in New Zealand.
